(PLEASE NOTE: Date and venue change!!)

I have another fine True Love In Exile show to tell you about.

It takes place NEXT Friday, August 5th
and it's at Cafe Melange, 2700 24th St (at 2nd Ave in Curtis Park)

True Love in Exile
proudly announces the long-awaited Sacramento return of
Yep Roc Recording Artist from Seattle, WA

IAN MOORE

Many of you might remember the amazing shows Ian put on at the True Love and we're very happy that he loves playing Sac and is back this weekend!

All Music Guide says about Ian's latest album, 'Luminaria': "Like Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot minus the noise interludes: country-tinged folk-rock songs given imaginative, occasionally dissonant arrangements. For example, the choruses of the otherwise straightforward "New Day" are colored with enough guitar fuzz and "Penny Lane"-style trumpet fills to appeal to the most confirmed psychedelia fan, and the seven-plus minute "Caroline" shifts from its weepy country-rock melody into a lengthy waltz-time passage filled with dub-style echo and keening, wordless vocals. Not a duff track on Luminaria, and the songs are so varied and interesting that this is Ian Moore's best album by some distance."

I will be opening the show.

Show starts at 9pm. Cover is $10. All-ages are welcome!

Again, the show is
NEXT Friday, August 5th
at Cafe Melange, 2700 24th St
(at 2nd Ave in Curtis Park)

Don't miss this show!!!!

....Saturday, August 6th-
IAN MOORE (from Seattle, WA) and KEVIN SECONDS
Many of you might remember the amazing shows Ian put on at the True Love and we're very happy that he loves playing Sac and is heading our way in August.

I'm opening but only cuz I'm a narcissist and cannot stand not seeing my name in print for longer than a few days. Actually, I just love Ian's music and want to play with him.

The other local opener has another engagement and will not be able to perform this show, unfortunately.

Show starts at 9pm. Cover is $10.

There are a few more True Love In Exile show possibilities in upcoming months, including another very cool Found Magazine show. I'll keep you updated here and other places.

I have a Ghetto Moments show NEXT Friday, April 8th at Epic Arts Studio in South Berkeley (1923 Ashby Ave at MLK, Berkeley), starting at 8:30pm.

It looks like I'll be going it solo, with Al helping out with some vocals on a few tunes.

Opening will be hero/nice guy/Asian Man Records head ace Mike Park which means that the place is sure to sell-out.

Come one, come all.

OK. You really need to forget everything else going on on Friday night.

Get off of work or stop doing whatever you do right around 5 or 6pm at night.
Go the fuck home.
Take a quick nap.
Shower.
Maybe eat something.

Then at around 8:30, drive, walk, run or ride to the True Love, pay your $6 and check out the atmosphereo-pop of Audio Out Send and the clickity-clomp-pop (I really don't know how to describe my solo stuff so I'll stick with that, for now) of Ghetto Moments.

We will be playing all the songs we've been playing these past few months and have every intention of throwing in 1 or 2 brand newbies for the hell of it.

Please come:

[Current Mood |very good]

My latest punk rock weekend has officially come to a close and I feel pretty good, overall. I figured after the Reno show, my neck was what was going to give me the most trouble but the pain is mainly in my ankles and calves. After all these years of doing the jumping around onstage thing, you'd think I would have found a better way to pull it off but that is not the case. As I type this out, the lower half of my legs are throbbing like a motherfuck.

Oh well. As always, it was more than worth the pain I'm currently enduring :)

But yeah, last night's show at the Boardwalk, wow, really really big sweaty Sacramento fun! The turn-out was great, the bands who played with us (Ghoulies, Pipedown and Hanover Saints) all rocked, the sound onstage was decent and the best part of the entire night was seeing everyone singing, dancing, jumping, diving and having a good time with us. And as usual, having friends there, especially True Love family people (mattwooddogg, grid_goodgirl, ehuscribbles, sammiewhammie, endo721, xnobodygirlx, closetonothing, bobbyjo, livenolies, Mike R, Sabrina, David J, David H, Eva, Simon E, Anton, X-ian, Cary, Doug, Boogie and a shitload more I probably forgot) made all the difference in the world.

We couldn't have asked for 2 better homecoming gigs than the 2 we just played.

Thank you all for coming out and cheering our asses on!

...and don't forget.....

My Ghetto Moments will be performing this Saturday night (April 17th) at the one place in town that we have not been banned from yet (for fighting, of course), the True Love Coffeehouse. We will be performing all of our radio hits, as well as a few obscure goodies that you can find only on our rare Scandinavian bootlegs. We'll also be debuting 1 or 2 brand new ones.

Opening the show will be our current tour mate, Anton Barbeau (along with local guitar whiz-kid Steve Randall).

Show starts at 9:30.

True Love is located at 2406 J Street (near 24th), midtown Sacramento.

Why bother supporting some other shitty local band on Saturday when you can come see mine? :)

we all play
well, most of us

we assemble on a patch of
shit-hot concrete
stretch lumpy muscles
lace up tight our shoestrings
tell stupid jokes
rub our sweaty hands dry

then we
go through the ritual of
practicing our shots
over and over and over again
until it's time to
shoot for teams
a process that takes
way longer than it should

we get ready
we get set
we go

the first game begins
and it's absolute madness

there's very little flow
very little coordination
very little chemistry
very little actual skill
but it's always fun
even with the bad passes
ball hogs
missed shots
lack of defense
and freak ankle injuries

we play for hours and
act like we're as good as
the dudes playing on
the other courts

(dudes who could
probably play college ball)

and we're not
and we mostly know that
but it doesn't matter cuz hey
we work our asses off
for those 15 points it takes
to win the fucking game!

Heh. Well, the 7Seconds News & Review cover story came out on Thursday.
Christian Kiefer is a good writer and did a very nice job. The photo situation is a different thing completely, especially the ones used for the fucked up Sac N&R cover.
They had a CRAPLOAD of good ones taken last weekend by the head Reno N&R photog, as well as a handful of really great band shots Al took within the last couple of years and that is the best they can come up with?

Oh well. Whatever.

Predictably, a few people gave me shit ("hey! it's Mr. Punk Rock Star!) and a few just congratulated me. For what? I'm not really sure. I think people are more psyched knowing someone who made the cover of our local weekly rag (both Sacto and Reno editions) than they are about me living through this thing for the last 24 years. That's fine too.

All I can say is that I'm awfully glad I have a new record and some touring abroad to look forward to. I think I need out of this neighborhood/city/state/country for a little while.
